Adobe Lightroom Classic
Publish straight from Lightroom.
Publish galleries straight from your catalogue, sync stars, colour labels and flags in both directions and read client feedback right in Lightroom. The plug-in is free and included in every plan.
ZIP package, 52 KB, version 1.4.1. Runs on macOS and Windows.
Your catalogue stays the source.
No export to a folder, no uploading in the browser, no second place where you have to keep track of things.
Publish Service instead of an export folder
One published collection is one gallery. Lightroom keeps a record of what is new, what has changed and what you removed, and shows you at any time what is already up to date online. Rename the collection and the gallery is renamed with it.
Every photo remembers its number in the gallery. When you publish again, overwriting is guaranteed to hit the right image, even if the file was given a new name in the meantime.
One dialogue per run instead of one question per photo
The plug-in checks existing files in one go before uploading and asks exactly once for the whole run, not again for every photo. Overwriting replaces the file only: comments, ratings and the position in the grid stay in place. If you prefer, it creates a new version instead. Files whose content has not changed are not uploaded at all.
Client feedback in your catalogue
Lightroom picks up comments and ratings from proofing at regular intervals and shows them in the Comments panel below the Loupe view, with name and time. Your clients' star rating sits next to them on a line of its own.
Pairing without a password
Your password is never kept in the plug-in. It shows a code that you confirm once in the browser, and after that it only stores an access token in your system keychain. You can revoke that access at any time in your profile under Connected apps.
Which account is connected and how much storage it has left is shown right in the Plug-in Manager.
Big files arrive too
The plug-in uploads large files in parts and takes a second run at them by itself after an interruption. Photos, RAW files and, if your plan can do video, videos as well. It checks the limits of your plan up front, not after two hundred files.
Deliver once, without a collection
For a quick delivery in between, photo-hosting.com is also there in the familiar export dialog under Export To. Pick a gallery or create a new one, export, done. Saved as an export preset it is a single click next time.
Two-way sync
Your rating is there on both sides.
You hand out stars, colour labels and flags sometimes in the catalogue and sometimes on the road in the browser. The plug-in keeps both sides together by itself, in both directions: every five minutes, after every publish and straight away when you start it from the menu. No new upload is needed for that, changing the stars is enough.
This rating belongs to you alone. On photo-hosting.com it is kept as your private photographer's rating, invisible to guests and cleanly separated from proofing. What your clients rate stays just as separate and never lands on your catalogue stars.
What travels where
From Lightroom to photo-hosting.com
- Stars, 1 to 5
- The catalogue value sets your private rating in the gallery.
- Colour label
- The five standard colour labels of Lightroom. Freely named colours are left out.
- Flag
- Becomes your private decision online: Pick or Reject.
- Removed marks
- Take stars, a label or a flag away in the catalogue and they disappear online as well.
- Gallery name and contents
- The Publish Service transfers new, replaced and removed photos and renames the gallery when needed.
From photo-hosting.com to Lightroom
- Stars, 1 to 5
- Handed out in the browser, they land on the photo's stars in your catalogue.
- Colour label
- Lands on the photo's colour label, with no detour through an export.
- Pick or Reject
- Your decision from photo-hosting lands on the familiar Lightroom flag.
- Client comments
- With name and time in the Comments panel below the Loupe view.
- Your clients' stars
- As a Client rating line of its own in the same panel, strictly separate from your stars.
If both change at once, Lightroom wins.
If only one side moved, that side wins. If the same photo changed in both worlds, the catalogue prevails. It is what you work from.
Deleting travels one way only.
From Lightroom to the gallery, not back. In the catalogue it is clear that something stood there before, in the gallery empty only means that nothing is there.
No ping-pong.
If both sides already match, nothing happens at all. The sync in the background never opens a window, and what it writes into the catalogue appears as a single step in the Undo menu.
Step by step
From the ZIP to your first gallery.
-
01
Install the plug-in
Download the ZIP and unpack it, what is left is the photo-hosting.lrplugin folder. Put it somewhere that will stay put and add it in Lightroom Classic under File > Plug-in Manager > Add. The photo-hosting.com section then appears in the list.
-
02
Pair your account
Click Connect in the Plug-in Manager. Your browser opens, you confirm the code shown there, and Lightroom reports the connected account. You never type a password into the plug-in.
-
03
Publish a gallery
In the Library, bottom left under Publish Services, right-click photo-hosting.com and choose Create Published Collection. The name of the collection becomes the gallery name, or you pick an existing gallery in the settings. Drag your photos in, click Publish.
-
04
Sync your ratings
There is nothing to do for this: the sync runs every five minutes and after every publish. If you do not want to wait, take Library > Plug-in Extras > Fetch my ratings from photo-hosting.com. Only that route reports at the end how many photos changed and how many changes were sent.
-
05
Manage and disconnect
Which devices may reach your account is listed in your profile under Connected apps, and that is where you withdraw access again. Disconnecting inside the plug-in only removes the access token from that one computer.
Delete a collection in the catalogue and the gallery stays online, the plug-in merely forgets the link. Remove photos from the collection and publish afterwards, though, and they disappear online together with their client feedback.
Requirements
That is all it takes.
Lightroom Classic
Version 6 or newer. The plug-in uses the Lua SDK of Lightroom Classic and needs no further libraries.
macOS and Windows
One build for both systems. There is nothing to install natively, everything runs inside Lightroom.
A photo-hosting account
Included in every plan, the free one too. You pay nothing extra for the plug-in itself.
Frequently asked questions
Everything else is in the help centre, and if something is missing there, write to us.
To the help centre →Which data does the plug-in sync? +
Your stars, your colour label and your flag travel in both directions. From the gallery, the comments and the star rating of your clients come into the Comments panel as well. And the Publish Service keeps the gallery itself up to date: new, replaced and removed photos plus the name of the collection. Other metadata such as keywords or your develop settings is left untouched.
Can my clients see my stars and flags? +
No. What comes out of your catalogue is kept online as your private photographer's rating and is only visible in your account, in no gallery and through no link. The same holds the other way round: your clients' stars show up in Lightroom as a client rating in the Comments panel and never land on the stars of your photo.
What happens if both sides change at once? +
The plug-in remembers the state of the last sync for every photo and compares both sides against it. If only one side moved, that side wins. If both moved, Lightroom wins and the value from the browser is overwritten. When publishing, the catalogue always wins anyway.
Does this work with cloud Lightroom too? +
No, the plug-in needs Lightroom Classic. Adobe offers no plug-in SDK for cloud Lightroom, so a connection like this is technically not possible there.
What happens to photos that are already uploaded? +
Before uploading, the plug-in checks all files of the run at once and asks exactly one collective question. You choose between overwriting, a new version and skipping. Overwriting keeps client feedback and image position, and files with unchanged content are skipped.
Can I pair several computers? +
Yes. Every device gets its own access, the studio machine and the laptop on the road, for example. In your profile you see all connected devices and can disconnect single ones without touching the others.
What does the plug-in cost? +
Nothing extra. It is included in your account, in every plan and in the free one too. All you need is an account and the download.
